05.07 Chambers win WBO eliminator

July 4, Hamburg, Germany:

“Fast” Eddie Chambers won a majority decision in a WBO eliminator against Ukrainian Aleksander Dimitrenko in the headliner of Universum´s show tonight at the Color Line Arena. It was scored 117-109, 116-111 and 113-113. Dimitrenko was floored in the tenth from a left hook and took what seemed as a standing eight count in the seventh. However, that was ruled as a knockdown too as Aleksander had grabbed the rope as he turned away from the action after Chambers had landed a left hook to the back. It was a foul punch but referee Genaro Rodriguez seemed to make the right decision as it had little or no impact.

Dimitrenko was the much bigger man but failed to use his size. He also failed to use his reach in large parts of the fight and surprisingly Chambers could control the center of the ring while Dimitrenko moving away or covering up along the ropes. When he did land with power punches, and he did a number of times, Chambers took them well, smiled, and came back with something better and it was as if Aleksandre´s confidence fell apart. It was a good, fastpaced fight with lots of action where Chambers overall better strategy and bigger heart won it for him.

WBA and WIBF fly queen Susi Kentikian won every round against Argentinian Carolina Gutierrez Gaite to retain her titles.

WIBF and GBU jr feather titleholder Alesia Graf was hurt twice and down once against American Terri Lynn Cruz but won a close, split decision at the end that didn´t go down well with the audience.

American cruiser Kenneth Releford didn´t come out for the fourth due to badly cut left eye against Russian Aleksander Alekseev. It was scheduled for ten.

Argentinian puncher Pablo Vasquez had a lot of problems with Romanian spoiler Vasile Surcica but won a close, majority decision after six rounds, welters.
