Guillermo Jones´ defence of the WBA cruiserweight title – won over a year ago without any defences – against Russian challenger Valery Brudov, the mandatory challenger scheduled for October 24 in France, is postponed (or cancelled depending on who you listen to) as Brudov have pulled out apparently due to a contractual problem.

Dutch jr light Innocent Anyanwu square off against Spaniard Sergio Palomo on the annual Ben Bril Memorial October 26 in Amsterdam. The also features the comeback of heavyweight Richel Hersisia. Welters Hassan Ait Bassou and Islam Teffahi headline in a BeNeLux title fight.
 
Universum´s show in Rostock October 10 feature featherweight Marcel Meyerdiecks, from nearby Wismar, in a fight against Hungarian Zsolt Nagy, a solid journeyman. Televising ZDF will show both mainbouts live and Ina Menzer vs Esther Shouten go ahead at 10 PM. Susi Kentikian vs Julia Sahin goes out live just after midnight with Dennis Boytsov vs Jason Gavern to follow so we are looking at a late night. I remember another late night ZDF show that lasted to almost 2.30 AM.
 
Portugese middles Vitor Sa and Isak Tavares fight for the vacant national title on Sunday (Oct 4) in Espinho. Portugese title fights are to say the least rare.
 
Supermiddle prospect Hakim Chioui headline a big pro-am show in Vireux-Wallerand, France, October 3. Chioui face Juan Carlos Muntane from Spain. The event is televised live over internet - check out francebox.tv for more info. Behind the show is former world champ Christophe Tiozzo, who is now heading boxing academy with a team of local sponsors. Tiozzo is making a comeback in boxing of sorts after a few troubled years that have included plans for an appearance in wrestling.
 
Rimer Boxe have jr lights Petr Petrov and Nacho Mendoza in the headliner of their show in Alcobendas October 20. The two fought a draw in 07 with the WBC Latin title title at stake. Petrov hails from Russia but have been based in Spain for his entire career.
 
Feathers Alex Miskirtchian, 16-2-1, and French veteran Osman Aktas clash for the vacant EU title October 24 in Dinant, Belgium. Aktas comes off three straight losses but have fought at high level.
