It’s Fight Week for Kolbeinn Kristinsson!
Lammi Boxing Management´s unbeaten Icelandic heavyweight fighter Gunnar Kolbeinn Kristinsson (17-0, 11 KO) will fight this Saturday his first 12 round scheduled fight, when he faces unbeaten Mike “The Warrior” Lehnis (8-0, 5 KO) in 12 round scheduled fight for three minor belts in Germany.
Kristinsson who turned pro back in November 2014 has fought his whole career outside of his native Iceland, one of few countries in the World where professional boxing is still banned – the thing which Kristinsson would gladly like to see change before his career will be over some day. Kristinsson, who has won his 7 latest fights with quite early stoppages, is facing his toughest test this far in Lehnis, 190cm tall southpaw with decent punching power.
Both Lehnis and Kristinsson were active and victorious last time back in December 2024 in Vienna, Austria, where Kristinsson beat Piotr Cwik and Lehnis upset Arash Khojasteh.
Lehnis, who is 37 years old as well as Kristinsson (actually the age difference of fighters is only 4 days), turned pro only 3 years ago after a good and long amateur career, will also take a huge step-up on the level of opponents, when fighting Kristinsson! This far Lehnis toughest opponent has been Arash Khojasteh, who lost to Mika Mielonen who then lost to Kristinsson.
-Preparation for the fight has been very good, we started as soon as I got the offer for the fight. We took a longer and slower route to the camp, building things better over more time. It was also great to have an experienced southpaw fighter like Samuli Kärkkäinen to help with sparring and technical drills.
I’m very excited to finally fight. I have been improving the whole camp and looking forward to put on a show and take home the victory, and the belts on the line, promises Gunnar Kolbeinn Kristinsson, who travels already on Wednesday to Germany.
