July 31, Hamburg, Germany:
WBA “standard” supermiddle champ Dimitri Sartison retained the title at the O2 Arena in Hamburg tonight with a hardfought unanimous decision over Khoren Gevor. It was scored 115-112 and 117-109 twice. There were no knockdowns but plenty of drama. Gevor started well but was hurt in the fourth and Sartison, the taller, bigger man, used his reach, picked his shots well and built up points. Gevor had a point deducted for low blows in the sixth. Khoren, now 31-5, put on a strong finish to a very good fight but it wasn´t enough.
Sartison is now 27-1 with his sole defeat against Mikkel Kessler. He took that loss well, learned from it and is an overall good boxer with decent power.
Former WBO supermiddle champ Karoly Balzsay knocked out French veteran Aziz Daari in the fifth with a southpaw left.
Jr middle prospect “Golden” Jack Culcay stopped Ionut Trandafir Ilie in the fourth and impressed.
The Black Panther, Juan Carlos Gomez outscored Zach Page over eight and while still overweight he seems to be on his way to fighting shape.
Polish middle Mariusz Cendrowski outscored Bronislav Kubin over eight.
