27.11 Rosberg beat Haapoja!

November 27, Tammerfors, Finland:

Jarno Rosberg, now 9-0, won the Finnish heavyweight title with a close, hardfought, foulfilled wildly exciting split decision over defending champion Juho Haapoja in the headliner of P 3 Boxing’s promotion at a packed Palloilu Hall. After ten it was scored 96-94 and 96-95 for Rosberg and 97-94 for Haapoja.

It started as a wild brawl and got wilder when Haapoja was cut between the eyes in round one. Juho went all out to try and finish and it developed into a slugfest with Haapoja almost breaking through at times. But Rosberg, a southpaw and the bigger man, came through and finished strongly to clinch it.

Jr welters Ville Piispanen and Jaakko Myllyla drew over ten in another hardfought battle but this was one was more inside the rules of boxing. After ten two judges had it 95-95 and the third vote was 96-95 for Piispanen.

Big Swedish heavy Attila Levin floored outclassed Latvian Edgars Kalnars twice in the first and it was stopped. It was scheduled for eight. Kalnars was a late sub for Alex Mazikin.

Norwegian jr light Andreas Evensen tko’d Hungarian Mihaly Telefki in the second of a scheduled six-rounder.

The show went out live to Finland, Sweden and Norway.
