EBU jr welter champ Denis “Djingis Khan” Shafikov will defend the title against Lee McAllister February 11 on a Tommy Gilmoure promotion. Site is to be announced but it looks like somewhere close to Aberdeen is likely. McAllister have been around for a long time now and have over the years been world champ twice and currently holds the Commonwealth title.
Shafikov is from Russia but is promoted by P 3 Boxing in Finland. There has been some rumors that P 3 Boxing was looking to sell Shafikov´s contract to Russian investors but for now is he still with P 3.
The German Oak, durable heavyweight veteran Timo Hoffmann is still around and will headline his own promotion December 3 in Dessau. Hoffmann square off against Jonathan Pasi for the vacant EPBA title, EPBA? The European Professional Boxing Association, an organision created by the GBA and serves as their European title.
German heavyweight Edmund Gerber take on British veteran Michael Sprott December 3 in Helsinki. The hardpunching Gerber has been called the best German heavyweight prospect around and that may well be true but Edmund still looks a bit one-paced and one-dimensional to this reporter.
Swedish welter Patrick Bogere take on Romanian Ionel Trandafir Ilie in the sole professional boxing match on the big K 1 / MMA show billed as Rumble of the Kings on Saturday in Stockholm. Bogere vs Ilie is scheduled for six three minute rounds.
