Supermiddle Jean Paul Mendy face Brit Nathan King September 10 in Paris in the headliner of AMI Productions first “Le Grande Tournoi” event of the new season. Also on the bill is bantam Jerome Arnould squaring off against Spaniard Rafael Tirado and heavyweight Gregory Tony who face Latvian Edgar Kalnars plus of course the tournament fights between Madjib Mohammed vs Thierry Karl and Karim Bennama vs David Greter – both fights scheduled for six and made at 76 to 80 kg..
Jr welters Azad Azizov and Zapir Rasulov headline Jacher Minitz promotion in Baku, Azerbajian, October 3. All three are based in Germany but return home for this show that is televised by local TV. Azizov goes for the IBO Int´l title while Rasulov (formerly fighting as Gereev) fights for the IBO Youth crown.
Danish supermiddle and former EBU champ Rudy Markussen is ready to come back and there are talks with Sauerland Event about a fight on the Kessler vs Perdomo show September 12 in Herning. Markussen, 33-2-0-1, was last seen getting knocked out by Sergey Tatevosyan in 2006. Rudy is a terrific puncher with either hand and Australian Sam Soliman, a constant sparring partner to all the Danish supermiddles a few years back, always said he felt Rudy was the best of them all – in the gym that is. Come fight time Markussen have never really lived up to expectations despite the power.
Arena Box Promotion begin the new season September 18 in Logron, Spain, with a a show headlined by fighters all returning after losses. On top middleweight Mahir Oral have his first fight since his grand stand against then IBF ruler Arthur Abraham and take on Alexander Sipos. Heavyweights Konstantin Airich and Steffen Kretschmann co-headline against selected opponents. All three are trained by Hans Joergen Witte.
German Warriors Box Promotion have Swedish female middleweight Maria Lindberg topping their show in Ruehlsheim September 19. Lindberg´s opponent could be Brit Sara Davies with the vacant WIBF title at stake. Inbetween them they don´t have even ten fights and Lindberg is indefinitely suspended in Sweden (and probably in most other places as well) due to the injuries suffered in an amateur fight back in 99.
French feather champ Guillaume Frenois, 14-0, defends the title against Sofiane Takoucht, 16-0, September 25 in St Quentin.
