Yesterday, Dec 18, Hennessy Sports and the EBU announced that EBU supermiddle champ James DeGale had relinquished the title as it was not possible to both hold the EBU and the WBC Silver title at the same time.
However today, Dec 19, the EBU Council have decided to modify its rules and decided that it is only “full” World champs that cannot hold both titles.
DeGale is therefor reinstated as EBU champ and his mandatory defence against Mohammed Ali Ndiaye that was announced for January 26 in Bluewater, Kent, is according to the EBU still on.
If Hennessy Sports comply with this or already have made other plans remains an open question.
