Former EBU welter champ Jackson Osei Bonsu and former WBO jr welter king Randall Bailey might clash March 12 or 19 in Belgium. No deal is made yet but there are ongoing negotiations.
Polish-German businessman Andrew Grajewski have begun a Polish-German boxing team under controversial circumstances. Main star is jr middle Damian Jonak and lightweight veteran Matt Zegan is also part of the team along with Daniel Urbanski, reigning IBF Youth jr middle champ. Grajewski´s first show goes ahead in Berlin February 6 under GBA license. Jonak was previously with Bullit Knockout in Poland and there are lawsuits in both German and Polish courts in this matter for breach of contract. The show February 6 is billed as “Brunch-Boxen” and begin at noon. Andrew Grajewski have in the past collaborated with Universum for many of Dariusz Michalczewki´s title fights.
Aging Italian veteran Silvio Branco, multiple champ at supermiddle and lightheavy, makes his debut at cruiser February 5 in Fuscaldo taking on Hungarian Laszlo Hubert for the IBF Int´l title. Branco was last seen losing against Jean Pascal in a fight for the WBC lightheavy title.
The rematch between jr lights Innocent Anyanwu and Sergio Palomo appears now to go ahead March 14 but is still to go ahead in the Netherlands. Innocent won the first fight on a controversial cut eye stoppage. At stake March 14 is the vacant EBA title.
British heavyweight veteran Michael Sprott have taken over Timo Hoffmann´s spot as challenger for EU champ Francisco Pianeta. Deadline for purse bids or agreement is February 1.
German middle Benjamin Simon clash with aging Tanzanian veteran Rashid Matumla February 6 in Berlin with the vacant IBF Int´l title at stage. Simon, licensed by the GBA, is 16-1 and his management talks of a world title fight but it´s a very inflated record built mainly on wins over clubfighters on the Berlin circuit.
EBU lightweight champ Anthony Mezaache face Mexican Luis Ernesto Soto January 29 at the Palais Marcel Cerdan in Levallois. Mezaache vs Soto headline an eight-fight show billed as Challenge Marcel Cerdan, which is not by accident but connected to the new line of clothes from Heritáge Marcel Cerdan, a company that keep the name of the late middleweight champ alive through memorablia, sports items and clothes.
