WBA supermiddle champ Mikkel Kessler have according to sporten.dk through his lawyer accepted to face Mads Larsen in an all-Danish fight. Larsen, who just turned down a fight against IBF ruler Lucian Bute, is said to have accepted through his agent to face Kessler with Team Palle promoting. However, Larsen is under promotional deal with Sauerland Event and CEO Chris Meyer says he´s heard nothing about a Kessler-Larsen fight. Meyer instead says the plan for Larsen was to have a tuneup March 14 in Kiel and then perhaps fight the winner of EBU titleholder Karo Murat and challenger Cristian Sanavia – a fight that goes ahead February 28 in Neubrandenburg. However, Meyer does leave the door open for an offer from Palle.
Mads Larsen was at one time a genuine world class performer but a series of injuries and a long layoff due to a managerial dispute have derailed him of the skills he at one time had: Meanwhile, his former gymmate Kessler have developed into a superstar and should be at his peak right now.
A Kessler-Larsen fight could happen in sometime in April.
As for IBF king Lucian Bute it appears that Ukrainian Vitaly Tsypko will be next.
