EBU heavyweight champ Aleksander Dimitrenko have a new mandatory challenger and that is no other than Frenchman Jean Marc Mormeck, former WBA and WBC cruiser king and now 3-0 as a heavyweight in a total record of 36-4.
The EBU have set June 26 as deadline for private negotiations and if no agreement will call for purse bids after that so this fight is far from a done deal.
It deserves to be noticed that one is not appointed to the mandatory challenger position with the EBU but have to accept the nomination.
Dimitrenko, 31-1, have been a pro since 2002 and scored an impressive knockout last time out against tough Pole Albert Sosnowski. It´s been generally believed that he would vacate the title and go for a world title fight but with the Klitschkos and David Haye holding all major titles he might opt a lucrative defence in France against Mormeck, who is self-promoted.
That Mormeck choose to go for the EBU title appears also to indicate that talks of a WBA eliminator have ended at just that.
