Russian Dmitryi Pirog is co-challenger along with Amin Asikainen for the vacant EBU middleweight title. Pirog enters as Sebastian Sylvester eyes the vacant IBF crown. Pirog is only 14-0 but have several good wins on his record and Asikainen, 26-2, needs to be at his best if he is to regain the title he won and lost against Sylvester.
Gabriel Campillo´s step up to lightheavy and win over Hugo Hernan Garay have left the EU supermiddle title vacant. Co-challengers are now French champ Medhi Bouadla and Dane Lolenga Mock, whom Campillo beat to win the title.
Belorus Sergey Gulyakevich have relinquished the EBU jr lightweight title. It will be Devis Boschiero and Leva Kirakosyan that contest for the vacant title. Boschiero keeps busy with a tuneup against Hungarian Zsolt Nagy July 18 in Piove di Sacco.
Polish Bullit Knockout have cancelled their planned August promotion. Part of the problems with the show is securing a IBF eliminator for welterweight Rafael Jackiewicz.
German middlweight champ Thomas Troelenberg defends the title against Omar Siala August 22 in Berlin on a Wiking Box Team promotion. Cuban heavy Pedro “La Estrella” Carrion is featured on the undercard.
The Super Six supermiddles – with all six present – hit Berlin today. Officially Showtime´s Ken Hershman get all the credit but Kalle Sauerland have told press in both Germany and Denmark about how he came up with the idea and managed to sell it to all participants working 15 hours a day. Sauerland Event promotes two of the six fighters in the tournament.
Viasat in Denmark plans to air all fights in the tournament with Mikkel Kessler on PPV with the price set at 500 DKK, which translates into almost 95 USD.
