Robert Helenius will face Brit Dereck Chisora December 3 in Helsinki with the vacant EBU heavyweight title at stake ending weeks of speculation on who would be the opponent for the unbeaten Finnish/Swedish heavyweight.
The late, in fact very late notice, is explained by the fact that Chisora, a loser to Tyson Fury, had to have a win in his last fight in order to be eligible to fight for the EBU title. Dereck got that this past Friday when he beat Lithuanian journeyman Remigius Ziausys.
Alexander Dimitrenko, who previously held the title was stripped of the title as he is injured and unable to fight in the next three months. There appears to have been quite a power struggle behind it as purse bids were scheduled twice for Dimitrenko vs Helenius then postponed.
There are already 6000 tickets sold for Sauerland´s and P 3 Boxing´s show at the Hartwall Arena and most are there to see the Nordic Nightmare in action.
Aleksander Povetkin headlines in his first defence of the WBA regular heavyweight title taking on Cedric Boswell.
