IBF supermiddle champ Lucian Bute´s defence against Frenchman Jean Paul Mendy July 9 in Bucharest is now officially on. The show go ahead at the Romexpo and is promoted by Rudolf Obreja, who also heads the national federation. Jr lightweight Viorel Simion and heavyweight Bogdan Dinu will be featured on the undercard.
Bute vs Mendy is outside of the Showtime deal, which will continue this fall with a possible showdown against Mikkel Kessler or Kelly Pavlik or some other name fighter in the works.
