Former WBA ruler Mikkel Kessler is training in Berlin under Jimmy Montoya and physical therapist Thomas Macon spotting a full beard and claimed to be “hungry” once again. Added to the team is a mental coach which Mikkel, interviewed by sporten.dk, claims to have helped him get back to to his true self. On April 24 in Herning Kessler face WBC supermiddle champ Carl Froch in the second round of the Super Six Tournament.
The sore knee of retired 44-year year old Danish heavy Brian Nielsen is said to have survived a first short inspection by a specialist in Berlin. Further examinations to to follow before Nielsen is declared fit or not to embark on a comeback with a fight against Evander Holyfield down the road.
It´s not officially announced but the all Turkisk heavyweight clash between veteran Sinan Samil Sam and the hardpunching Yakup Saglam appears to be on for April 9 in Istanbul with the vacant WBC Int´l title at stake. Sam, 36, have been training under Konny Mittermeier in Istanbul for some time already but the gossip have indicated that Sinan was very much out of shape when training began. Saglam can punch but have yet to be tested.
Hector “Macho” Camacho is heading for Denmark and a showdown at middleweight against another comebacking veteran in Allan Vester March 26 in Kjellerup. The show is promoted by Anders Vester who have Anita Christensen vs Aliesha West in the co-feature. At stake in the Camacho vs Vester fight is the WPBF title. WPBF? EBU bantam champ Jerome Arnould will defend the title against newly crowned British ruler Jamie McDonnel March 20 in Cannet-Cote d´Azur with AMI Production promoting. Also on the bill is middleweight Hassan N´Dam, who face Elvin Ayala, and supermiddle Jean Paul Mendy, who reportedly have a fight against WBA “regular” champ Dimitri Sartison later this year.
