Media in France reports that former IBF superbantam champ Fabrice Benichou, 46, has been taken into psychiatric care after three suicide attempts in four days.
Benichou retired in 1998 but made a comeback in 2005 that ended in 2006 with a loss.
Fabrice turned pro in 84 and won the IBF title in 89, lost the title in 90 but later won the EBU featherweight title and challenged for the WBC title. Benichou plugged away throughout the 90´s but his best days were behind him.
