When Robert Helenius, 19-0, beat Dereck Chisora in December of 2011 he won the vacant EBU heavyweight title but suffered a bad hand and shoulder injury that took almost a year to heal. He thus relinquished the title and stablemate Kubrat Pulev won it by knocking out Alexander Dimitrenko (after Chisora had moved on to fight Vitali Klitschko). Helenius was then given the position as mandatory challenger while Pulev made a voluntary defence in September by knocking out Alexander Ustinov.
Helenius returned in November and recently fought Michael Sprott but is again injured and is according to info from Sauerland unable to fight for two monthts and the EBU have thus removed the Nordic Nightmare from the position as mandatory challenger. The highest ranked available fighter will get the position and it appears that Denis Boytsov, # 2 in the EBU ratings, could be the one.
