The EBU have set July 3 at noon as deadline for purse bids for the fight between EU superlight champ Michele Di Rocco from Italy and Belgian challenger Jean Pierre Bauwens.
Di Rocco, 33-1-1, have been around for some time now and avenged his sole loss with a first round stoppage of Giuseppe Lauri in his last fight.
Bauwens is according to the Belgian Federation 21-0-1 but have three more fights (all wins) under a different license and comes off what seems like an impressive first round stoppage of capable Englishman Ryan Barrett. Barrett have a different view though and claims he slipped on advertisement and was hit when down, never recovered and was floored twice more before it was stopped. Either way, Di Rocco vs Bauwens shapes up as an interesting matchup – if it happens that is as Di Rocco appears to be ready to be moved in towards bigger titles.
