The big news at Sauerland´s press conference in Berlin earlier today appears to be that there´s still not a confirmed opponent for the Nordic Nightmare, WBA and WBO I/C heavyweight champ Robert Helenius for the show in Helsinki December 3. The official word is that there are ongoing final negotiations with two different “name” opponents. One of the names that continues to pop up is Jonathon Banks.
Ukrainian lightheavy Vyacheslav Uzelkov, who fight EBU champ Eduard Gutknecht February 4 in Germany, appear on the undercard to K 2 Ukraine´s next big show, November 19 in Kharkov. In the mainevent jr welter Sergey Fedchenko take on Frenchman Willy Blain, who fought for the WBO title while still with Spotlight Boxing in Hamburg. Fedchenko vs Blain is for the WBO European crown.
Danish Hall of Fame Promoter Mogens Palle never announced his retirement and now at 77 and in his 54th year in business he´s signed up heavyweight twins Morten and Kasper Fruensgaard. The two will make their professional debut on a dinnershow in Copenhagen November 25. Palle is looking to have former world cruiser champ Virgil Hill as trainer for the two.
It will be Sergey Rabchenka, from Belarus and promoted by Hatton Promotions, and Prince Arron that fight for the vacant EBU jr middle title. The EBU have set November 21 as deadline for purse offers or agreement.
