Lightheavies and stablemates (Universum) Jurgen Brahmer and Aleksyi Kuziemski clash for the WBO interim title August 22 in Budapest. Champion is Zsolt Erdei, also a Universum fighter, and as to why he isn´t available until November or December (as reported in a previous column) there are no good answers – at least not yet.
 
Thís season´s edition of the French Grand Tournoi begins September 10 at Cirque d´Hiver in Paris with quarterfinals over six rounds at a weight between 76-80 kg. First out are Nadjib Mohammedi vs Thierry Karl and Karim Bennama vs David Greter. The quarterfinals continue October 15 at the same venue with Medhi Sahnoune vs Tarik Khadouri and Djamel Selini vs Samir Berrada.
 
Former WBO heavy champ Lamon Brewster face Gbenga Oloukun, a/k/a Bang Bang Gbenga, August 29 in Halle / Westfalen. Oloukun was previously signed with Spotlight Boxing and have a fine looking record of 16-1 – but it should still be a relatively easy win for Brewster, who saw his last fight, an eight-rounder in Helsinki May 30 against Juho Haapoja go up in smoke when Ruslan Chagaev wasn´t allowed to fight Nikolai Valuev. Also added to the bill is Finnish-Swedish heavyweight hopeful Robert Helenius. Victor Hugo Ramirez headlines in a defence of the WBO cruiserweight title against Marco Huck.
 
WBC cruiser champ Giacobbe Fragomeni will defend the title at the end of October or early November in Italy, states Christian Cherchi of OPI 2000.
 
French jr middle Christophe Canclaux have a final tuneup August 10 in St Nazaire before taking on EBU champ Jamie Moore. Canclaux is in against Latvian Jurijs Boreiko. Also on the three fight bill are lightweight Muhaita Mutu and supermiddle Jean Marie Sainte.
 
IBF I/C cruiser ruler Enad Licina face stablemate Yoan Pablo Hernandez October 17 on the Abraham vs Taylor show. It´s a hot internal Sauerland eliminator between two fighters with lots of skills but with problems living up to expectations.
