07.06 Results from Schwerin

June 7, Schwerin, Germany:
WBA lightheavyweight champ Juergen Braehmer retained his portion of the title with a twelven round unanimous decision over Argentinian challenger Roberto Feliciano Bolonti. It was scored 118-109 and119-108 twice. Bolonti had a big moment in the last round when he shook the champion with a left hook. Braehmer was clearly shaken but slipped Bolonti´sfollow up punches and came back with hard southpaw left hooks to the body.Bolonti had a point deducted in the eighth for exessive holding and bled at times badly from the nose. Braehmer was in control most of the way and scoredwell to the body but Bolonti was never hurt.
 
Tyron Zeuge retained the WBO Youth title at lightheavyweight with a ninth round stoppage of brave but outclassed challenger Armand Cullhaj. Cullhaj soaked up a steady beating and was hurt in the eighth and with only the ropes holding him up a count was issued as well, The onslaught continued in the ninth and Armand looked to his corner and the towel came ending the fight at 1.12. Zeuge won all the completed rounds.
 
Cecilia Braekhus retained the WBA, WBC and WBO female welterweight titles with a ten round unanimous decision over Jessica Balogun. It was scored 98-92, 100-90 and 99-91 after a fight with no highlights and little drama. Braekhus did just enough to win the rounds while Balogun chased and also appeared to outwork the champion in some rounds.
 
Enrico Koelling won the vacant WBA I/C supermiddleweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Frenchman Patrick Bois. It was scored 116-112, 116-113 and 115-113 after a fastpaced, good, fight with lots of action from two fighters known for their workrate rather than their punching power. Koelling scored with good left hooks to the body and later in the fight with right handers over Bois´ left. Patrick kept working hard andupped the pace in the later rounds outworking his opponent but overall lKoelling´s sharper punches won it for him.
British heavyweight David Price scored an uneventful ten round unanimous decision over Jaroslav Zavorotny from Ukraine. It was scored 100-90, 97-92 and 98-92. Zavorotny, a capable journeyman, did a good job in smothering his much bigger opponent and while Price was able to get home with some big punches they came one at the time. Zavorotny came on a bit in the last rounds but Price held up well.
-Next time this year he´s ready for Wladimir, he´s coming along great, said trainer Tommy Brooks.
 
Cruiserweight Noel Gevor took out Hungarian Bela Juhasz with solid left jabs at 2.29 of the second. Juhasz was down at the bell ending the first from a right upercut to the body but there was no count as the referee apparently didn´t see the punch or ruled the punch had come after the bell. Either way Juhasz came ouf for the second where Gevor worked him over with hard right hand punches ending the fight with three straight hard jabs. Juhaszwas up before “eight” but the referee counted “nine-ten out”.
 
Supermiddle Vincent Feigenbutz showed again he´s one to watch in knocking Gheorghe Sabau at 2.57 of the third in a scheduled eight-rounder. Sabau, a southpaw, scored with a good left early in the round andthat spurred Feigenbutz into action and he opened up with both hands. Sabau was under pressure but punched back and that made Vincent work even harder and at the end of the round Sabau was hurt and finally went down in his own corner where the referee dispensed with the count. It looked bad but Sabau recovered quickly.
 
Former world (WBA) cruiserweight champion Firat Arslan (34-7-2) opened Sauerland Promotion´s show at the Sport- und Kongresshalle with a one-sided unanimous decision over Hungarian Tamas Bajzath. Arslan had it all his way in working over a brave but outclassed and out of shape opponent. Bajzath was down in the last from a southpaw left to the body.
