French heavy Jean Marc Mormeck, 35-5, is now fighting Timur Ibragimov, 30-2-1, December 2 in Paris and not Hasim Rahman as was originally planned.
Rumors that Rahman was pulling out – or had pulledl out – have been flying for the last week and Ibragimov and his team was offered the fight and have now accepted.
Mormeck is very much following the same path as the one who beat him when they were both cruiser champs: David Haye but there are some differences. Jean Marc is now 38 and spent over two years after losing to Haye out of the ring before returning as a heavyweight last year where he now have beaten Vinnie Maddalone and Fres Oquendo, both on points.
Mormeck is his own promoter, have signed up some good prospects and have a TV deal with Orange.
Ibragimov have had a good 2010 winning four straight and now holds the NABF title. He was to have spent a few weeks in Stockholm to help Attila Levin prepare for his fight against Robert Helenius but those plans are probably changed now.
