06.05 Jackson moving up to jr middle

Former EBU welter champ “Sugar” Jackson Osei Bonsu, 34-5, will continue his career despite the loss to Karlo Tabaghua last time out but will move up to jr middle.

The 30-year old Jackson, from Belgium by way of Ghana, feels that making welter have weakend him and was a key factor in the loss to Tabaghua, where he suffered three knockdowns en route to a points loss after eight rounds.

Bonsu was stopped by Randall Bailey in very first round of a IBF eliminator in March of 2010 and many observers feels it´s not the problem with making the weight that caused the setbacks but that Jackson, who never had the strongest of chins, simply don´t have punch resistance anymore.

That might be a good point: Jackson fought a tremendous war with WBC eternal mandatory challenger Selcuk Aydin in the summer of 2009 and was stopped in nine and it seems a fact that neither winner nor loser have looked the same since then.

Jackson´s debut at jr middle is scheduled for June 24 in Deurne, Belgium. “Sugar” is trained by Renald De Vulder and promoted by the Antwerp Boxing Academy.
