Jr middle “Golden” Jack Culcay will take on Italian Giammario Grassellini on Saturday in Helsinki on the undercard to Povetkin vs Boswell. Culcay was sponsored by Universum in the amateurs and turned pro with them in 2009. Universum lost their TV partner in 2010 and Jack and his management have claimed breach of contract. Earlier in the fall a regional court in Hamburg ruled in favor of Universum. Still, Culcay will fight on Saturday and Universum are threatening with legal action against both Jack Culcay and Sauerland. How strong the case is remains to be seen.
SES begins 2012 at home in Magdeburg with a show at the Maritim Hotel January 7. Headlining is WBO Euro lightheavy champ Robin Krasniqi with WBFed Int´l lightheavy ruler Denis Simcic and heavyweight Francesco Pianeta in featured bouts.
When middleweight Avantil Khurtzide step into the ring December 17 to fight Ozzie Duran for the WBC Silver title he will be stripped of the IBO title. The official reason is that the IBO don´t rate Duran and thus will have to vacate the title.
Las Vegas-based Swedish supermiddle prospect Badou Jack, 8-0, have his next fight lined up for December 16 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Opponent is to be announced. Jack is trained by Eddie Mustafa Muhammad and is promoted by Warriors and DiBella Promotions.
EU welter champ Luciano Abis have Karlo Tabaghua as official contender. Tabaghua beat ex EBU king Jackson Osei Bonsu in a big upset last time out but that was back in April. There were several offers for bigger fights coming Karlo´s way but all fell through and he has also been sidelined with an injury. Tabaghua hails from the Georgian Republic but have been fighting out of Stockholm, Sweden, for some time now.
