IBF middle champ Arthur Abraham will – as previously reported – defend the title June 27, Sauerland Event have today announced that the site will be the Max Schmeling Hall in Berlin and that the opponent is Mahir Oral. Oral, 25-1-2, is promoted by Arena Box Promotion and turned pro back in 2000. Since joining Arena in 05 his career has taken off but a series of hand injuries have kept the German of Turkish descent from the big breakthrough. Oral was just named official challenger for the vacant EBU title along with another Sauerland promoted in Sebastian Sylvester but will now go for a world title instead.
It´s official: Natascha Ragosina defends the WBA and WBC supermiddle titles July 3 in Hannover. Opponent will be American Laura Ramsey, who´s said to be in with a puncher´s chance against Ragosina. In the co-feature Esther Schouten will step up in weight and fight for the vacant WIBF belt at featherweight. Finally, Czech Lukas Konecny, reigning EU champ, appears in a non-title contest.
Evander Holyfield will be ringside for Valuev vs Chagaev in Helsinki on Saturday (May 30).
